I am very pleased to report that I achieved an A grade in my Maths GCSE. I have to thank you, as without your help I probably wouldn’t have achieved such a good grade.

Thanks very much for your help over the six months before the exams. I was very relieved when you were able to start teaching straight away. David was a little apprehensive at first, having never had a private tutor before, but was put at ease after a couple of weeks with your friendly approach.

Your flexibility and punctuality were great and your knowledge of the subject and syllabus meant David could sit the papers with confidence.

Your hard work and dedication to tutoring has paid off – Ben got a C in Maths! 3 B’s and 5 C’s in total.

We wish we had had you last year for Kelly. I honestly think she would have done better.

The target you and Karen agreed was for her to achieve a grade A and I’m delighted to say that’s what she got!! I know Karen found you really easy to talk to and she understood the way you explained things. She once said to me it was like having a friend helping her with her maths work and it didn’t feel like school; the difference in your approach to that of the school really helped to cement a real understanding of the subject as opposed to simply memorising the answers/equations.

For the last couple of months before my GCSEs Fiona tutored me. In my mocks I had received a B grade and was predicted to get an A for the real GCSE. With the help of Fiona, who tailored my lessons according to what I had already learnt and felt comfortable with at school, I achieved an A*.

Andrew passed his Common Entrance exams to go to Halliford School.

The most important thing is that he passed his Maths with flying colours, attaining 69% which is the highest mark he has ever had.

He’s overjoyed with himself, the first thing he told me being his maths result.

I have been extolling your virtues to my friends as you have done a brilliant job with Louisa and really shored up her maths as well as built her confidence and for that I am very grateful.

Amy got a fantastic result with her Maths GCSE! She got an A* and we are really pleased for her. So thank you for all your help and tutorage over the last year.

I was really disappointed to originally get a D in my GCSE Maths. But thanks to Fiona, I was able to pass it 3 months later with a C

I had Fiona for the beginning of GCSE Year 11 and at the start I was getting B grades despite being predicted an A. I saw Fiona for maths tutoring every Monday (with some exceptions) until June when my GCSEs started. Having Fiona to help me understand everything that I didn’t understand gave me much needed confidence and one to one tutoring that helped me achieve an A* at GCSE. I was over the moon and I owe Fiona a lot.

I was predicted a D in my maths GCSE but thanks to Fiona’s help going through lots of past papers, I got a B!

Thank you so much for your friendly, warm and thorough preparation for 11 plus. We are so grateful for all your hard work and preparation and it all ended successfully as we got offers from all chosen schools.

Fiona tutored me for a year and a half leading up to my GCSE in maths. I suffered from confidence in my abilities and Fiona gave me belief in myself while explaining how to go about solving the maths problems. She helped me so much that I ended up with an A* grade.

I could not have achieved this without Fiona’s tutoring and help.

Fiona has been instrumental in ensuring that my son gained the result he wanted in his GCSE Maths exam. She has shown patience and understanding when the last thing he wanted to do was more work when he got home from school, but also she has been firm and supportive. Adam exited year 5 at level 3b and when he got assessed at the beginning of September at the start of year 6 he was 4c! So he jumped 2 levels thanks to the work you did with him in the summer holidays.

I thought I should let you know that I passed the QTS numeracy exam! Thank you so much for all you’ve done and for helping me get through it.

Fiona was recommended to me by a friend three years ago in 2013 when my son, then in Year 8 coming into Year 9, was struggling to cope with maths. Due to her popularity as a tutor I had to wait for a tuition slot, but it was worth it. From the outset Fiona identified his level of understanding and weaknesses, and working alongside the topics being covered at school, for the past three years she has patiently encouraged and developed his ability and confidence in maths; enabling him to move up through the groups at school into the higher GCSE set; he recently received a school award for his progress in maths. He is currently taking his GCSE’s, and his work ethic with a determined approach is due to Fiona’s tuition; we are confident he will achieve a high grade.

Due to his progress, we also asked Fiona to provide maths tuition to his sister during her Year 11; as a consequence her increased understanding and confidence, has taken her from a B/C student to an A/A* student.

I cannot recommend Fiona highly enough; her methodical approach and explanation techniques have worked wonders with my children.

Sarah feels very comfortable with you, and is learning a lot.

She also seems more confident, and believes in herself again, that she can do it, which I am sure is due to your encouragement.

Just to let you know Katy got an A* in maths!! Thank you so much for everything you have done for all 3 of my girls, I have recommended you over the years and will continue to do so.

To me, the ability to understand maths is something of a genetic gift – you’re either born with the ability to easily solve equations or you’re not.

Unfortunately, I am the latter. I’ve never enjoyed maths and as a result have always lacked the confidence I needed to succeed. Therefore, imagine my delight when my mum told me she’d booked me a weekly tutor for MORE MATHS. I thought it was going to be extremely dull and would prove that the only thing I was capable of doing with numbers is getting them wrong.

My first few weeks of sessions with Fiona were nothing short of a fiasco for there could not possibly be two more outrageously different people on this planet. We would often just stare at each other in total disbelief for minutes on end. However, as the months continued, I learnt that not only was I capable of stringing a few numbers together, but that Fiona is actually a proper laugh as well as a fantastic tutor. Instead of forcing me to try and understand things with no logical explanation, she illuminated the dark workings of an examiner’s mind and in that way I learnt to develop my exam technique. After several months of trying to make chalk and cheese a palatable combination, I sat three maths exams and managed to achieve a level 7 (equivalent to an A). Thank you Fiona, not only for your time, but your determination, patience, persistence and attention to detail. See you for A level! (Jokes)

Just wanted to let you know Aaron achieved a 7 in the new marking system for Maths which according to the paperwork attached to his exam results is the equivalent of an ‘A’!  This would most definitely not have been achieved without your input and I just wanted to thank you for assisting and putting up with him!!

Jake got 103 in his SATS and was meeting the year 6 expectations in Maths which we are very happy with as it’s the first time he has met the expectations for maths in primary school.

I just wanted to thank you for all the coaching and support you gave Jacob with his Maths – it certainly worked.  He got a 5 in his GCSE and we are all delighted with this result.

I just wanted to send a quick email to thank you for your help with Joshua’s maths tuition.

Because of all your help and fantastic tuition he was entered into the higher paper and achieved a grade C which for Joshua is amazing considering he was predicated a D on the foundation paper!!

So once again thank you for all your help and if needed I will certainly call on you again if my other children need a little nudge in the right direction.

We have been so happy at the way you have worked with Alice and watched her gain in confidence to see her literally bubbling over at your last mark on her paper.  Let’s hope the exam is kind to her on the day. Just wanted to tell you that Oliver got 93% in his maths exam this week. So thank you so much for all that you do with Oliver!

Just wanted to let you know that Ryan got a C in his Maths A level which he was very happy with. He got and A and a B in his other subjects and has confirmed his place at Sussex Uni to study Psychology. Such a relief! Thanks very much for getting him over the line.

Just to let you know Emily passed her maths and she got a 6! Thank you so much for your help, Emily is so pleased with her result. We will make sure we recommend you to our friends and family if their children need help with maths.

Hi Fiona, just thought I would let you know that Liam got a 6 in maths, we are very pleased. Big thank you for all your help and patience.

I am just writing to thank you again for your help with Matthew. Your tutoring and guidance were most positive and kept him on the right path. He received his results – this included a grade nine in Maths.

Chloe did really well in her 11 plus exam. The pass mark was 299 and she got 362. Maths was her highest mark at 127 so that’s brilliant – it probably means she got about 3 questions wrong. When she came out of the exam she said she made sure she read through the questions properly and slowly so it all paid off and we couldn’t have done it without you. She also received the results today of a mock SATS maths test – she got full marks – 35 out of 35. It’s all given her such a confidence boost. So a big thank you for all your work, patience and kindness – much appreciated.

A big thank you for all your hard work teaching, support and encouragement. Over recent weeks as a family we have been saying everybody needs ‘a Fiona’, maths has been so much calmer knowing that Mia can refer to you.

I wanted to write to thank you sooooo much for helping Jack with his Maths over the last year – he got a 6 which is more than we were hoping for a year ago!

He did really well overall so is very happy to be able to stay on at sixth form and do his chosen A level subjects!

I did the UCAT today. Just thought I’d let you know I managed to increase my quantitative reasoning score by 150 points from when I last took the exam.

I truly believe our sessions genuinely contributed to this, so thank you for your time and for sending the screenshots through after each class – they were very helpful to review the things we went through.

I just wanted to tell you the good news that Molly achieved a grade 9 in her GCSE maths. She was exactly on the grade boundary but a 9 is a 9! Thank you for all your help getting Molly there.

Thanks for all your help with Dominic over the last few weeks. He was able to go into his exams with much more confidence and this will hopefully result in a boost to his grade.

He was very pleased with yesterday’s paper. He reported back that he was able to work through all the questions quite confidently and there was only one 4 marker that he couldn’t quite get an answer for. He was particularly pleased that two of the longer, higher mark questions were very similar to something you had covered on Tuesday, so he was able to sail through them!
